Starfish

Among rivers of morning stars I open to the night

your zeal awakens in lighted bedsheets

I swim through the air
up to a ceiling of cat-eyed apples
up there where the white horse grazes

I swim through the sky
search for you in a yellow cloud
of fish and guitars

I swim in a desert of rain
where sunset takes you further away hour after hour

I swim in the water of your eyes
two shadows lengthen and transfigure my night

I awaken in phosphorescence
my feet burn on the sands of day
